A gardener and avid bird watcher made several batches of the gourmet suet recipe.  This recipe appears in an earlier article of the Garden Happenings page.  The suet worked well and attracted lots of birds.  Recently, he attempted to make another batch of gourmet suet and discovered he was out of corn meal.   Instead,  he replaced the 2 cups of corn meal required by the recipe with GRITS!  To his surprise, this modified suet recipe really worked well.  It attracted many species of birds including several blue birds which he was not used to seeing in his backyard.  So if you are making the gourmet suet, you might want to try some good ole grits.  Take a look:
